Species Details

Upright Brome is a tufted winter-green perennial of calcareous grasslands on dry infertile soils. Most recent records come from the Magnesian Limestone as at Batley (SK4963), Pebley Sand Quarry (SK4878) and Markland Grips (SK5074). Elsewhere it is very rare with a few scattered records as at Crich Stand Quarry (SK3455) and Darley Park (SK3237). Previously it was also recorded, but only rarely, for the White Peak as at Monk’s Dale (SK1375) in 1970 and Lathkill Dale (SK1966) in 1969.

This plant is in Category 5b of the local Red Data List, 2009.
