Species Details

Hungarian Brome is a newly establish perennial of waysides and rough grasslands. This species occurs very rarely, scattered throughout Derbyshire from Mellor (SJ9988) and Birley Vale (SK3984) in the north to Mickleover (SK3035) and Foremark Reservoir (SK3324) in the south. Our plant is subspecies Xxinermis, native to continental Europe, previously sown as a fodder crop, now usually introduced as a seed contaminant.
