Species Details

Rye Brome is considered here a very rare casual annual of arable fields and waste places though other authorities have treated it as an ancient introduction (Stace XXet al. 2003). There are no recent records and only four sites where it was previously recorded. It was recorded for Spath Farm (SK2235) and Cropper Top (SK2336) in 1975, and for SK33 and SK28 for after 1950. Its local loss is mirrored by a national decline since early last century (Preston XXet al. 2002). It is of uncertain origin.
