Species Details

Various-leaved Water-starwort is a very rare native annual or perennial of ponds, ditches and streams. All recent records are from north-central Derbyshire with an isolated record from Bradley Old Park (SK24L) though previously it occurred scattered throughout the county from Alport Dale (SK1293) in the north to Ticknall (SK3523) in the south. Nationally it is considered to be spreading probably due to the increased eutrophication of waters (Preston et al. 2002). Its apparent local contraction in range is then possibly due to under recording rather than a real decrease.

This plant is in Category 5b of the local Red Data List, 2009.
