Carthamus tinctorius
Safflower
Species Details
Safflower is a casual annual of tips, possibly native to south-western Asia. There are no modern records and only two earlier ones, at Melandra Tip (SK0095) in 1977 and Dimple Tip (SK2656) in 1969. Safflower has been cultivated as a crop but the plants seen probably originated from bird-seed.
