Species Details

Narrow-leaved Water-plantain is a very rare, native, emergent perennial of the edges of canals, ponds and streams. All recent records come from the Whatstandwell area of the Cromford Canal (SK3551) but it is perhaps overlooked elsewhere for the larger and commoner Water-plantain (A. plantago-aquatica). Previously it was thinly scattered over lowland Derbyshire from Renishaw (SK27) in the north to Trent Lock (SK4931) in the south.

This plant is in Category 5a of the local Red Data List, 2009.
