Species Details

Wild Privet is a native shrub of woods hedges and scrub, particularly on base-rich soils. It is also widely planted in hedges near houses and gardens. It is very common on the Magnesian Limestone, as at Pebley (SK4878) and Pleasley Park (SK5165). Elsewhere it is occasional throughout our area from Marple Bridge (SJ9688) in the north, through the Via Gellia (SK2857), to Westbrook Farm (SK2312) in the south.
