Species Details

Smooth Tare is a scrambling native annual of rough ground, waysides and arable field margins, often growing alongside Hairy Tare. One observer noted its liking for the edges of sports fields. This beautiful but inconspicuous plant is occasional throughout the county, though more frequent in southern and eastern parts {Mouselow Bottom SJ9985; Drakelow Power Station SK2220; Barlow SK3575, Pleasley SK4963}. Derbyshire is near the northern edge of its mainly southern UK distibution.
