Species Details

Lesser Spearwort is a native perennial of marshes, wet grasslands and flushes. This species is frequent throughout the Dark Peak and Peak Fringe but rare elsewhere in the county particularly on limestone and appears much reduced in the lowlands. Our highest record is around 600m in SK1088 Seal Edge.Although a very variable species locally (Clapham 1969), all our plants seem referable to subspecies XXflammula.
