Species Details

(Locally extinct) Spreading Hedge-parsley was an anciently established annual weed of arable fields and gardens in the south of our area. There are no recent records, and the latest previous records were from Dove Dale (SK15), Drakelow (SK21), Repton (SK32) and Shipley (SK44), all for 1903. Its local loss mirrors a national decline due to intensive crop management as it is particularly vulnerable to herbicides and competition from other plants (Preston XXet al.2002). It is indigenous to continental Europe.
